RSS FeedBlackberry Playbook and the catchup game
I am very excited by this upcoming iPad competitor, and its specifications look pretty amazing: 1 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB RAM, video playback, Flash, AIR support, USB drive, 7×5 inch screen, 3-MP front facing and 5-MP rear facing cameras. Plus the rumors that the price will be close to $550 really have me on the wait list.
The question arises, how much of the catch up game will Blackberry Playbook, Dell Streak and others will be able to play, and this is where you can have your say.
What percentage of tablet marketshare will Blackberry Playbook capture by the end of 2012?
- More than 1%, but < 10% (42%, 104 Votes)
- More than 10%, but < 25% (26%, 63 Votes)
- < 1% (18%, 45 Votes)
- At least 25% (14%, 34 Votes)

I have no idea how to answer your poll.

Tim, do you mean you don’t have a way to predict the future of Playbook, or do you mean that you are having “technical difficulties” in answering the poll?

The % division seems arbitrary and I think it adds false sense of “scientificness.”
Maybe better poll might be:
How successful do you think Playbook will be by 2012?
- More successful than iPad.
- As successful as iPad.
- May not be successful as iPad but it will find its own niche.
- It’ll be a failure.
Just my thought.

That sounds like a pretty good point actually. Ok, I am going to redefine the poll, and hopefully people can revote. One aspect though: when we say Blackberry Playbook will be more successful than iPad, my intention is for that to mean that it will sell more in 2012, not that it will catch up in units sold overall. I will try to clarify this, let us see.
